We welcome your questions about our practice and dental treatments. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for here, please give us a call. • How do I know when it's time to come in for a checkup? • What do I do if I have an emergency when the office is closed? • My child has had an accident and his/her tooth has been entirely knocked out. What do I do? • Do you accept my insurance plan? • What different payment options do you provide? • How can I safely whiten my teeth? • What precautions do you take to ensure patient safety? • My gums bleed after I brush. Is this something to be concerned about? • Crowns, veneers, onlays, inlays, and partials…where can I learn more about these procedures? • I brush everyday, but my breath just is not fresh. Is there anything I can do? • I want my front teeth to look better, but I don't want to wear braces. What would you recommend? How do I know when it's time to come in for a check-up? If you are new to our practice and are looking for a dentist, it is recommended to visit a dentist at least twice per year regardless of your dental health situation. If it has been more than 6 months since you’ve seen a dentist, or if you’re experiencing any degree of pain or discomfort, please schedule an appointment immediately. If you are a patient wondering about your next appointment, we make that easy for you. You can schedule your next appointment at the end of each visit, and we’ll give you a call to remind you about the appointment time and date. We can personalize your appointment schedule based upon your oral health goals and finances. What do I do if I have a dental emergency when the office is closed? Call the office at 713.468.7222 and a recorder will give you an emergency contact number. My child has had an accident and his/her tooth has been entirely knocked out. What do I do? Rinse the tooth—don’t scrub or scrape it—and put it in a glass of milk. Then call our office as soon as possible to arrange to see a doctor. Do you accept my insurance plan? We accept most insurance plans, and we will also send photos and extra documentation to maximize your benefits. Call us with your specific provider information and we’ll be happy to explain further. What different payment options do you provide? We provide CareCredit and Dental Fee Plan along with MasterCard, Visa, personal checks, and cash. We try to be flexible to fit your needs and will present all of the options to you so that you’ll feel comfortable with your payment options from the very beginning. How can I safely whiten my teeth? We offer you the Zoom! teeth whitening system as seen on ABC’s Extreme Makeover series, as well as professional-strength Crest Strips that are much more effective than the over-the counter strips. We also offer Zoom!- and Opalescence-brand customized take-home trays. All our methods are safe and effective. Come in for an appointment today and we’ll explore which option might be best for your particular need. What precautions do you take to ensure patient safety? We take many precautions, starting with state-of-the-art sterilization equipment. We also use barriers, such as gloves and clear plastic drapes over instruments to ensure your maximum safety. My gums bleed after I brush. Is this something to be concerned about? Yes. Healthy gums should not bleed. Bleeding gums are often a sign of periodontal disease, which can cause bone and tooth loss, receding gums, and bad breath. Periodontal (gum) disease has also been linked to serious systemic problems such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and low birth-weight babies. We’ll help you treat and avoid periodontal disease by designing an effective preventive care program. Periodontal disease can be helped with a cleaning, and sometimes it is more involved. We’ll tailor a program to your needs and make sure you don’t have to worry about bleeding gums again. Crowns, veneers, on-lays, inlays and partials…where can I learn more about these procedures? There are many modern dental procedures we can use to improve your smile and restore problem teeth in a much shorter time than you imagine. We’ll be glad to explain and show you pictures and models of any or all of these procedures. I brush everyday, but my breath just is not fresh. Is there anything I can do? Yes, there’s definitely something you can do about bad or stale breath, a disorder known as Halitosis. We use the BreathRx system, a non-alcohol based mouthwash from Discus Dental. It is also important to understand the source of the breath problem, whether it is simply foods you have eaten, a stomach or digestive system issue, or even more importantly, tooth decay or fillings needing to be treated. We’ll need to assess the source of the odor to really help you with this frustrating problem. Make an appointment now. There is a solution and we can help you find it! I want my front teeth to look better, but I do not want to wear braces. What would you recommend? If you don’t want the traditional metal braces, but you do want straight teeth, we offer the new Invisalign correcting method. Invisalign gradually moves your teeth through a series of custom-made removable, nearly invisible aligners. We also offer cosmetic methods and work with the most outstanding labs to offer other interesting techniques like things you’ve seen on ABC’s Extreme Makeover. Those methods include laminates/veneers and crowns, and we can tell you more about these services if you’re interested. Make an appointment today to tell us about your situation. |
